When a sport's most successful team over the last ten years has to fold, you know a sport is trouble. Discovery/US Postal has won 8 of the last 9 Tours de France and 10 of the last 25 Grand Tours overall. When cyclist are no longer able to earn a living, the sport will be clean because the dopers will all leave.

I would suggest that we could only be completely certain of that when there are no more competitions at all (pro or amateur) and no notion of "winners" vs. "the rest."
