Vascular surgeon at Duke a few years treated a prisoner with a venous stasis ulcer on his leg. Recommended some dressing changes and conservative wound management - quite appropriately. Although nothing bad happened to his leg or him medically, the prisoner then instituted a medical malpractice lawsuit against the vascular surgeon, claiming that the surgeon did not render appropriate care and basically neglected his complaints. The original number in the lawsuit was for $14 billion. It was thrown out, of course. Shades of John Edwards.
