  • What Became of the Senegalese/W. African Basketballer?

During the 1990's, many elite U.S. college basketball programs, including Arkansas, Auburn, North Carolina, Georgetown and Ole Miss featured players from Senegal, The Sudan, Mali and Nigeria, among other countries. There were even a few West African prep players who went straight from h.s. into the NBA draft, all "bigs"( e.g. Ousmane Cisse). Today one does not see this representation in the U.S colleges. Was the talent pool saturated, thin, or did some U.S. coach who was abroad developing players a deacde ago return stateside?

But for the fact they produced few guards and floor leaders, one would think Senegal or the Sudan would have developed an Olympic medal threat by now.
