  • Bernart Lagat - Traitor?

I hate to see that title in T&FN's links to media articles. The author gives lots of examples of athletes who have jumped ship for fame, glory, or money. But I have a hard time with him lumping BL in there.

I find it hard to believe he came to America so he could qualify. He was at or near the world best in his event. I don't think he jumped ship so he could qualify where he could not have done so if he stayed.

America was built by people coming to find a new and better life and freedom from oppression and I think that is exactly what Bernart Lagat did as well as Lopez Lamong. I think that author needs to enlighten himself some. There were good points in his article, but this seemed way off to me. Am I blinded by a love for track?

    Anyone else's thoughts.
