    You're right, Alan. But I wasn't thinking strictly in terms of track and field. I was just answering the question as it was asked. Lately, the NBC broadcasts in the evenings have been quite live.

      A lot of stuff dubbed "live" is delayed at least a few minutes. How else could a beach volleyball match "advance" 5-7 points in seconds?

        That's not the live stuff, then. As a poster mentioned previously on this thread, the LIVE broadcast is interspersed with taped material. But NBC has been showing tape delayed broadcasts in late afternoon/early evening, then taking a break of an hour or two and coming back with it's real LIVE broadcasts as competition begins in Beijing's morning.
