Why wouldn't softball be a sport?

Because it is no good to watch? haha
I'll concede that it is an activity, much like baseball, darts, bowling...

          Ditto on synchronized anything.

Leave it to my boy Cooter to suggest pole dancing.

Regarding Synchro swimming, I find it silly as an Olympic sport, but strangely appealling, although for other reasons........

Just looking forward to 2 years from now when we can see the Russians, Georgians, and Ukrainians going head to head in the biathlon.

why do we even need one for each gender? why don't men and women compete together in shooting?

what exactly is the difference between greco-roman and freestyle?

i'd get rid of the following sports: equestrian, sailing, taekwondo, synchro swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, softball/baseball (i love these two but let's face, very few countries/people play them around the world); plus those that don't send their best players (such as soccer -- why bother? there's a world cup, not to mention a zillion other championships , of course for women, it's a different story).

The TV ratings would go through the roof...after all, isn't this is what the Olympics is about?

                cman

I'm with you but also want to get rid of Trampoline, BMX, Mountain biking, at least one of the canoe/kayak sports and of course Modern Pentathlon.

Anyone else out there for the Olympics just being athletics and swimming?

No judged events, no activities you do at a barbeque, no sports where it's not the pinnacle of your sport?

I definitely agree that those sports where the Olympics are not the pinnacle of the sport should go - soccer and tennis being top of the list, and why golf should never be added.
In the too boring for words category - syncro swimming and boxing.

yes, i forgot modern pentathlon (too elitist! among other reasons) and BMX/mountain biking (don't they have the x games for that?).
