I agree with most of your posts here (and elsewhere on bike racing). However, one of the differences between Armstrong and Ullrich was the racing savvy difference as well as the riding ability (e.g., riding across the field when the guy crashed right in front of him on the decent). Contador is not (yet) in the class of Armstrong and has failed to learn in part because he is so good and can get away with mistakes. It will depend on his Director Sportif (he might be ok there, especially since he will likely listen more closely than he did to Johan B now that he has seen the mistakes that he has made). Schleck has another master to rely on, and his brother has a pretty good natural sense as well, although SaxoBank is dropping sponsorship after this year and the Schlecks might go eslewhere (probably a mistake).
