Unless you want this thing gestating in your thoracic cavity, I'd do exactly as racewalker says.
If we want to perpetuate this out-of-date-movie-reference-fest, then let's be realistic. James Spader is the one who can deal with hostile aliens coming through interdimensional gateways. And since he's now friends with Bill Shatner (who can keep the alien women busy), it's a win-win situation for us.

She's probably the only one with any experience in this sort of matter and the only one who can save us. She'll probably investigate and find that the CERN scientists are actually flunkies for the space monsters to boot.
Considering the additional, original considerations about black holes and similar,
David Hewlett is the guy you want.

Shatner used to turn alien womens heads about 50 lbs and 40 years ago...so maybe alien grandmothers.

Kirk's alien women were always "1000 of your Earth years" old. So, he's just leveling the playing field now.

I think Maximilian Schell would be more appropriate:

            http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078869/

He had the right idea all along.

(And since the black holes would be formed in Switzerland, the term "trou noir" is much more appropriate).

That is, without question, the most unbearable 'interpretation' of a song in history - far 'exceeding' the musical stylings of Roseanne Barr and Carl Lewis 'singing' the National Anthem.

I love Rocket Man by Shatner. too funny.

Carl Lewis singing the national anthem is pathetic...he should never have sung it at all. And neither should Roseanne Barr have sung it. The difference between the two is that Carl Lewis was attempting to be serious, whereas Roseanne had no intentions of doing so. She intentionally defiled that song. shame.

Bernie Taupin's endorsement is what matters.
