    Agree completely.

On a different note, the title of this thread has to take some sort of award for either understatement or obviousness. Perhaps part of the "Leave No Reader Behind" program.

I agree, it's in the eyes of the beholder. There are many Asians, Europeans and Canadians in the NBA, the NHL and MLB, and compared to what they're accustomed to, these laws probably seem very sensible. However, by American standards, these laws are pretty extreme, and it remains to be seen whether or not they will hold up when they're inevitably challenged in the courts. In the past, D.C. and Chicago have had similar laws struck down by the courts, but perhaps NYC figured out a way to word its new law in such way that it doesn't run afoul of the 2nd Amendment. At any rate, there's a zero percent chance that a NYC-styled federal gun control bill would even get out of committee, much less get through both houses of Congress. By the way, Felton was born and raised in South Carolina and went to college in North Carolina, and we all know what the laws in those states are like.

The Federal courts struck down another gun control law today. This time it was the 9th Circuit Appeals Court and the place was Yolo County, CA outside of Sacramento. Considering the fact that this case was originally filed in 2009, I'm guessing that we're still a few years away from the courts dealing with New York's gun control laws.
