  • Marathon Maternity Side Benefits

Not in the man bits dog category of news but this mornings paper had a short squib about a woman who gave birth this morning in a car parked alongside I-35.
It seems, despite her husbands urging, she waited a few contractions too long to head for the hospital. The article attributes her recalcitrance to a high tolerance for pain because she is a marathoner.

Dad delivered the baby before help arrived. Mom and babe doing fine.

I definitely think being an athlete can help a woman deal with the pain of labour.
I didn't have my kids by the side of the road, thank God, but I had very long labours with both and had no pain killers at all.
I tried to view the whole thing as a very, very long interval workout!

And I was back running ten days later-mind you only doing 5x1 mile (on a relay) but still I recovered very quickly which I also attribute to being fairly fit.

I await y'alls labour stories now!

I've noticed that women consider childbirth a bigger deal than the conception  .

                    Can it be true, Mojo?
