Yes, I knew that. I meant 'bookies' as the 'Betting Establishment'

          Texas, you have me convinced.

If you pick a couple of games a week next season, I think I may consider putting some play money on the line based on your picks.

I doubt that would be acceptable here at T&FN.

I might give some advice if asked but to just pick games...nay!

Hot off my golden pick in the BCS Bowl, nailing the point spread exactly, and because I don't know how to quit while I'm ahead lol, my Super Bowl prediction -

Smart money seems to be on the Steelers, and on the surface that would certainly look like a safe bet. But looking between the lines of the Steelers losses this season we see some troubling news for the Steeltown Boyz.

The Steelers are a team that was built in the smash-mouth, old school mold they always are - run the ball, stop the run on defense, don't make mistakes throwing it. The problem is their defense is set up to control the line of scrimmage and stop the run, and when the Steelers went up against teams this season that have experienced quarterbacks that throw the ball well - the Eagles, Giants, Colts, and Titans - they struggled, and lost. Statistically, the Steelers were a brick wall stopping the run - 44 ypg, but even in a division as mediocre as the AFC North, the surrendered an average of 200 ypg through the air.

Offensively, when matched against a high powered opponent, the Steelers are at a disadvantage. In a shootout Roethlisberger is out of his comfort zone, and the Steelers ball protection, grind it out offense becomes a liability.

So, that being said, here's how I see it. Warner is in a zone equal to any in his career, and Fitzgerald is, well, Fitzgerald. The Steelers as mentioned have struggled mightily against offenses like this, and I don't see that changing against the Cardinals. Warner's HOF credentials being on the line as a motivator for him don't help matters for Pitt.

It could get ugly, but Steeler pride makes that unlikely. So I'll say Cards 27, Steelers 20. Fitzgerald MVP, and Warner's ticket to Canton is officially punched.

I totally agree. Even the score. Warner is just too accurate and too Big Game experienced for the Steelers. I'd certainly bet the Cards to cover the line, but I'm also betting on them (in our big $5 school pool) to win outright.

So it's guru and me agin Texas!

Cards will need some big special teams plays and a lackluster performance from the Steelers if they are to win the game. They are the inferior team.

Matchups my friend, matchups. The Steelers secondary is their defensive achilles heel, and if the Steelers front can't get to Warner it's going to be an offensive shootout. That's a formula for 3 or 4 Roethlisberger INTs.

                        We shall see.

The Steelers are the better road team which means a lot. Most good teams do play well in front of the home crowd. In this "spot" neither will enjoy that advantage so we look for who plays better without it. That my friend is the Steelers, as you will see.

Didn't you say all this about the Patriots last year when you GUARANTEED their win?

I've also said that many times over the years, the only time it backfired was last season. You keep forgetting the Pats had the lead with less than a minute to play. You act like the Giants kicked their butt. Remember it took an on top the helmet catch to keep a drive alive.

Why do you struggle with this so? Longgggggggggg time football fan who has picked up on a few things along the way. Why is that so hard for you to grasp? Wanna talk Abner Haynes, Cookie Gilchrist. Pawl Lowe and the old AFL? How about the original Tim Brown?

I merely pointed out that you guaranteed a Patriots win. A guarantee. Not a hunch, not a strong feeling. A guarantee. In my world a guarantee is a lock, a done deal, no exceptions, no and ifs or buts, no excuses.

I struggle with this because none of that stuff has anything to do with tonight's game. I think the Cards will win. They are NOT the best team. All the factors that you look at, point to a Steelers' win. I'm playing a hunch. No guarantees, just what my puny, meager perspective tells me. I have FIVE dollars on the game. Despite the current economic crisis, I will survive if I lose.

If you are going to come on here with all your bluster and bravado, you're going to have to admit when you're wrong and eat some crow. IMMEDIATELY after the Pats lost last year, you stopped posting here for a loooong time. Why was that?
