I totally agree. Even the score. Warner is just too accurate and too Big Game experienced for the Steelers. I'd certainly bet the Cards to cover the line, but I'm also betting on them (in our big $5 school pool) to win outright.

I don't think anyone is going to fault Warner for the loss. The Cards played a great game, all in all.

The Steelers scored the 27 I predicted, the Cards played better than I thought they would however. Their inexperience in a big game finally caught up with them. Way too many penalties which is the first sign of inexperience under pressure. Warner had a good game but made "the mistake" that was like a dagger in the heart. HUGE..mistake.

That Cardinal defense was the biggest surprise for me. They had three and half solid quarters. Big Ben to Holmes "finally" proving to be the difference.

The Cards need a guy like Holmes/Welker/Bush. Somebody who can catch that flare/short pass and make something happen with his quickness/agility/speed. They don't have that kind of player and it hurts them. A Terry Metcalf (old time Cardinal) clone.

Now...

If the Cards were to make it back to the Big Game next season even with Lienart at QB vs a team like Jacksonville that's never been there what do you do? You go with the experienced Big Game team. Those first time in the Biggie are the teams that make the most mistakes.

You're absolutely correct. If the Cards kick a field goal there at the end of the 1st half instead of throwing the pick 6 the game ends Arizona 26 Pitt 20 - almost exactly what I predicted. Otherwise, things went pretty much the way I anticipated - Warner picked apart the Steeler secondary, as the Steelers just couldn't cover both Fitzgerald and Bouldin. One surprise was Roethlisberger's solid last drive, but he should have had two more picks in the first half that were dropped by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

As for penalties, there were plenty to go around for both teams, the most critical being the holding call against the Steelers resulting in the safety late in the 4th quarter. Damn near cost them the game. Looking back it was fortunate for Pittsburgh Fitzgerald broke the big one so soon after that safety, giving the Steelers enough time to respond.

Nevertheless, kudos to the Steelers - pretty or not, they did what was necessary to win, and ultimately that's all that matters.

I do think Hines Ward was limited to what he could do which helped the Cards cause. I also can't understand why a team with the number one ranked defense doesn't go for it with less than a yard to go knowing if they don't make it the Cards are on their one foot line. Talking about that first drive.

Never did understand why the Steelers didn't have somebody with some speed returning kickoffs. No..zooomm..at all.

That safety only really made a difference in terms of making overtime a possibility for a short while. Arguably they were better off taking the safety rather than punting from the one yard line - because of how the points margin was balanced. And although it seems a daft thing to say, because you take the points you can get, there were a couple of times when it seemed like the offence scored "too early". A shame we didn't get to see a couple of last ditch hail mary's to Fitzgerald right at the end - the guy has amazing hands - as the fumble call wasn't quite as exciting, but what a fantastic game that came to life after a slow start. As everybody else already said, the whole game turned on that 100 yard interception return as time ran out in the first half - even though a hell of a lot stuff went down afterwards. And good to see Bruce isn't letting old age get in his way of running around and having a good time!

Anyone here actually believe that the NFL fixes games or tries to? Meaning the powers that be get with the refs and tell them to do what they can to asure a Steelers victory. Yes the players know nothing about it.
