As I said in another thread recently, reality tv is a vast wasteland of white trash programming.

Yikes. The quality of poster on Television Without Pity has really gone down the toilet. That site used to be about eviscerating TV in the most sarcastic manner possible.

I am very, very proud to proclaim that I have never watched even one minute of any "reality" program.

Certainly the concept is bad enough. But imagine how much more you'd hate it if you had even seen a little of it.

Self righteous bastards!! How could you disown reality TV on a board like this in front of everyone?! You write message after message here leading us to believe you are letting us into your minds and hearts, only to suddenly slam the door on us in this thread! And I thought we knew you.........................apparently I've watched one too many reality programs ops:

Define "reality" show. If that includes Amazing Race, which I watch for the travelogue, and Survivor, ditto plus the competition variety, I plead guilty.

I wish I had never seen a reality TV show, but my wife loves them and, admittedly, I am all too easily sucked in. My impression is that they are one unchecked emotional outburst after another (thus my post). Very much not like any real life I've experienced.

Not all of them. I mentioned one on the non-24-watching thread: "Halv åtta hos mig," a weekly competition held between four strangers to determine who cooks and hosts the best over an evening meal.

We have that in Britain and it's called "Come Dine With Me". There's a funny and sarcastic voice over and it's surprisingly addictive. I found myself sucked into it - the competition is shown over 4 programmes and usually I find myself desperate to know who wins. ops:

Wasteland, bah !!! As the couch potato's handbook says, "There is NO bad TV."

IMHO, watching annoying TV is like training yourself to develop a taste for beer or learning some physical skill... the more difficult it is the more you have to force yourself to practice.

Although I admit watching The Bachelor is sort of akin to learning to shuck shrimp or peel onions. It is beyond my current viewing skill level.
