  • Utterly ridiculous

Being a father, this kind of stuff is simply unimaginable to me. I know that drugs can alter one's mind, but for goodness sake. What a sadistic freak!

If you're ever walking down the beach and you see a girl dressed in a bikini made out of seashells, and you pick her up and hold her to your ear, you can hear her scream.

    Re: Utterly ridiculous

I have a four year old and this just give you a huge sinking feeling. It is horrible beyond imagination.

A local song writer here sings a song called "Eight Hugs a Day". I wonder if this poor kid ever had even one?

Police say Angel Vidal Mendoza appeared to be under the influence of PCP
I realize I'm going to be roundly booed by EVERYONE else here, but once you see what drugs/alcohol can do to lower one's sense of responsibility/accountability, then how can you say they're 'harmless'? Diminished capacity, my *ss; he should have known that things could go wrong, and this time, they did.

Spare me your backlash - yes, I'm being smarmy and sanctimonious and self-righteous and holier-than-thou and any other invective you wish to throw at me, but . . . I don't drink alcohol or smoke dope or anything like that, nor do I condone their use . . .

        Rant over . . . sorry . . . this story is MESSED UP!

Marlow is having a emotionally over-reaction to a horrible crime with a horrible drug, which i can understand.

But its insane and lazy thinking to lump all drugs/booze into one basket, which i get the feeling you are doing. If your not implying this i apologize.

Along the same lines we could lump Vick with anyone that has ever killed an animal.

I can, and I would hope you could, distinguish between drugs that are very likely to lower one's sense of responsibility/accountability, and alcoholic beverages that, when taken in moderation, would never cause anyone to do the sorts of things we are talking about here.

My father was told by his doctor many years ago that he should have a drink every night before or with dinner. More recently, I've read of evidence associating moderate consumption of red wine with decreased incidence of heart disease and colon cancer, among other things.

I'm not going to boo you roundly, but I'm not going to let your absurd views deter me from drinking what I drink.

Ah, but see, you've placed a qualifier in there that is violated on a regular basis. People ROUTINELY get sh*t-faced and do stupid stuff all the time. They hope, and most of the time their hopes are met, that their stupidity won't hurt themselves or others. But it does . . . often enough for me to be disgusted by it. And I am.

I realize I am in an infinitesimally small minority here, but that's just how I feel. You are free to feel how ever you wish. If you've never caused harm, I congratulate you. I know that my drinking and drug indulgences can never harm others. That cannot be said of almost anyone who has indulged even a little too much.

Like Frank Sinatra said: "I feel sorry for folks who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning that's as good as they're going to feel all day."

People ROUTINELY drive too fast and do stupid stuff on the highway all the time. They hope, and most of the time their hopes are met, that their stupid driving wont hurt others. But it does . . . often enough for me to be disgusted by it. And I am.

I changed your booze rant to my driving rant. About 50% of the people i see dirving are out of their minds and they kill alot of people. But there are responsible drivers as there are responsible drinkers.

Life is complicated, you cant define it with a slogan.. like booze is bad.

Would life on earth be better if there were no intoxicants...maybe, but the moment humans could find a way to "get messed up" they did. Its part of the human condition.

Thank you for making my point. I wake up and feel great all day long. Hangovers waste half your day - who's got that much time to waste?! Carpe denim - seize the Levis!

Now THERE is an upstanding role model.

Personally I don't see how responsible adults drink to excess or get loaded up on drugs, but that's just me.
