Will parking meters kill Chicago's 2016 bid?

Daley, for the first time in his 20 years as mayor, is finally catching hell. The city recently privatized the parking meters in the city. Since then the price of parking has quadrupled in some parts of the city, broken meters,ts meters overfull of quarters, yesterday vandalism on the North Side and a very upset public. It has been a big disaster and if the IOC is paying attention, not very good.

Chicago reminds me of a third world country with Daley as its dictator.

Simple enough to fix, if it's still a problem in 7 years(not likely) - tell the cops not to write parking tickets for those two weeks.

I doubt very seriously that parking meters will be the deciding factor.

I know this sounds like a joke, but having growing up with hizz honor's father as mayor, this parking fiasco is making big news here. The Trib has had regular front page articles on the subject for weeks. The city is broke and anarchy is in the offing.

Even the aldermen are worried.

I am from Chicago as well, know the mayor personally, as if that means anything about the subject matter :lol:

But again I hardly think the parking meter issues will be the straw that broke Chicago's back.

Whether it is a deal breaker or not, the future will hold. But even the NYTimes is picking up on it.

The parking meters will probably have no effect on the award of the 2016 OG. The hard cruel facts are that certainly in my lifetime and maybe never will the IOC award an OG to the US. Atlanta pretty well took car of that :evil:
