  • Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocon ...

... , is, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, "a word alleged to mean 'a lung disease caused by the inhalation of volcanic ash, causing inflammation in the lungs."

Probably not one of your average long-lettered words you use on a semi-regular basis.

On that note, however, what are some of the longest words you currently fit into your spoken vocabulary? Written?

Funnily enough, I actually used the word 'antidisestablishmentarianism' in class one day when we were talking about Nineteenth Century British Literature

Unbelievably, I was able to use that word in a Scabble game

One word I use quite regularly is antidehermeneuticalizationism1.

The belief in thourouly abondoning the idea that we have to eradicate establishing the idea of principles of interprataion.

1 I just made that up.

I've used supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in a sentence before.

        A number of times.

I have used Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübert ragungsgesetz several times
when speaking with my German veterinarian.

Hope to use Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitaetenhauptbetriebsw erkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft one of these days.

Smiles is probably the longest word in English that I use, considering that there is a mile between the two s's.

Yes, I know that beleaguered is longer still, since it contains a league...

Something tells me that if you use a word with over 189,000 letters in it, you are just showing off.

Imagine having to give a speech about that with no short names or abbreviations to help you out. Today's topic is about "xxxxxxxxxxxx..". Your speech would be over before you could get the topic out.
