  • Buerhle Perfect?

Mark Buehrle pitched a perfect game the other night.
Tonight, through 5 innings, he is perfect. He has now retired 43 batters in a row, a major league record.
Nobody has ever pitched 2 perfect games in a row in MLB history.

Edit: Buehrle finally walked a batter in the 6th, then gave up a hit, but set a MLB record, retiring 45 batters in a row.

Sadly, it just ended at 45 batters, with a walk on a 3-2 count.

Still, the best ever stretch. Many, many congrats to Buehrle.

I don't follow baseball any more, but one of my enduring "heroes" is Johnny No-No, and it looks like this guy is almost in that league. Great effort!

I wonder how far down baseball's organizational ladder to find 2 consecutive perfectos by the same pitcher.

I'm guessing not even in the low minors. You'd probably have to look at college baseball, but I have no idea where to research it.

It's not uncommon in women's softball, however.

At least 3 preps have done it.

Buehrle broke fellow Sox Bobby Jenks record of 41 batters, but that was over about a score of games.

Now Buehrle has the record the way it should be, 2 straight games, plus the last better from the previous game.

As for dj's note, I have never heard of it at the college level, but recently some high school kid had something 4 perfect games in a row.

No one has even pitched two perfect games in MLB period.
