when you sneeze, how many times do you sneeze?

Now the WCs are over we can get to really important stuff.

I find that when I sneeze I nearly always sneeze 3 times: Sneeze, repeat... (pause)... then sneeze a third time. If I sneeze again after that it is the start of another set of three.

What's up with that? Is it genetic? Typical? Abnormal? How many times do you sneeze? Why do we sneeze, anyway? It seems messy and not very efficient.

Bright sunlight and even bright light bulbs make me habitually sneeze, often twice. My wife always yells at me, "Stop looking at the sun ! " But when the affliction is nearing you want to get it over with ! And when I have a cold, even a white wall can make me sneeze.

Me too! A significant minority of the population does this; the rest think the idea of light triggering a sneeze (or 3) is just crazy...

My partner is a serial sneezer- usually sneezes around 7 or 8 times, but has a PR of 13. It is always a bit scary when she is driving and sneezing.

I'm a loud sneezer also, much to the embarrassment of my wife.

Don't attempt to stop a sneeze. Tried it once. Only once. I heard an old wives' tale that if you stop a sneeze you can cause a heart attack so I, of course, had to test it. I don't know if I actually had a heart attack but my eyes nearly exploded from the pressure.

2 if I'm healthy. More in the spring during allergy season and any other time if it's anything besides two I know I'm getting sick.

Triple sneezer here, like the initial poster. Though I occasionally add a fourth as an afterthought.
