Just as with Tenn, LSU and Ark, Fla will struggle with Bama (assuming they beat LSU) and then win again! Urban is beginning to realize that the offense is just not there this year, so he's gonna put the team on Timmy's shoulders and make the lad carry them home. He'll do it.

I think your Bearcats should be ranked ahead of Boise State based on their respective schedules.

Good call. UC squeaks past Boise State, 5th in AP poll. Alabama takes over top spot after Florida's poor showing.

But in the more important poll, the BCS, Boise is 4th and Cincy is 5th.

Barely(.0213). And if they both win out that will change by virtue of Cincinnati playing a more difficult Big East schedule tht includes ranked teams Pittsburgh and West Virginia, plus Big 10 opponent Illinois.

Exactly! Boise State has hit a ceiling, as opposed to all of the other top 10 teams who will continue to rise in the computers, if they win out, due to tougher schedules.

            • Clearly, I am too dumb to understand the BCS polls... Fla beats up on Charleston Southern, Troy and Kentucky, then struggles with Tennessee and LSU and barely survives a game at home with a couple of very home-town looking penalties against Arkansas (a team that no one - not one voter - voted for to be in the top 25 in any of the major polls ! ) and the computer says Fla is #1?

As I said, I am too dumb to understand that ranking.

              • Don't forget that UCLA beat Tennessee at Tennessee and doesn't have a win in the PAC-10. But the SEC is the best conference.

Well, that's what the computers say. Thus far this year the conference power rankings are:
                  Code:
Conference PR PS SOS YTD W L Pct Teams
                  SEC .659 .644 .626 .593 50 28 .641 12
                  Big East .630 .607 .577 .458 34 15 .694 8
                  Big 12 .622 .618 .595 .467 48 27 .640 12

                  Big Ten .611 .593 .582 .521 47 29 .618 11
                  ACC .599 .609 .609 .556 45 33 .577 12
                  Independent .543 .482 .437 .434 12 8 .600 3
                  MWC .539 .540 .500 .478 32 27 .542 9
                  WAC .486 .466 .460 .441 28 28 .500 9
                  CUSA .446 .457 .403 .431 35 42 .455 12
                  MAC .412 .418 .343 .408 35 52 .402 13
                  Sun Belt .389 .381 .347 .452 19 33 .365 9
KEY: PR=Current Power Rating, PS=Pre-season power rating, SOS=strength of schedule (entire season), YTD= strength of schedule (Year-to-date)

The SEC was also #1 in 2008, 2007 and 2006.

Why, yes it is. As Urban says, ANY win in the SEC ('cept Vandy, I guess) is a Very Good win.

                    • SEC is the best conference. They are also their own worst enemy, it's hard to go undefeated in a conference that strong. Imagine South Carolina or Arkansas in the WAC or Big10.

Don't look now, but the Big-10 is ranked three conferences below the Big East!!

                            Why does that surprise you?

Wonder if Mark Dantonio still thinks it was a good move to leave Cincinnati for Michigan State a few years ago.

I'm betting that surprises 98% of all college football fans, INCLUDING B.E. fans!

Fine. I'll offer you a bet. Cinci vs. Ohio St. Even up. Marlow is welcome to join.
