With USC and Notre Dame being eliminated from BCS consideration today, and with LSU being ineligible due to the two-teams-per-conference rule, could this be the year that two of the little guys (TCU and Boise State) get into the BCS? It does appear that there will be three at-large bids this year, and I'm hard pressed to come up with two more deserving teams than the Broncos and the Horned Frogs among the teams who won't be getting automatic bids.

For USC the thrill is gone. Harbaugh sent some sort of message going for a two point conversion while leading by 4 tds.
I think 55 is the most points ever given up by any USC football team, home or away. By the end of the game most of the front-running LA crowd was gone... probably going home to begin a campaign to get rid of Pete Carroll, who is one step away from becoming the westcoast Charlie Weis in the mind of the Trojan faithful.
The worst loss in USC history was probably the 51-0 steamrolling that Notre Dame gave them in the John McKay era. McKay vowed that such a thing would never happen again a bounced back for a lot strong seasons. Can Carroll do the same?

Pittsburgh, which will be ranked well ahead of Iowa today, has West Virginia and Cincinnati, while all Iowa has left is Minnesota. As long as Pitt beats WV, even with a loss to Cincy it's hard to see Iowa finishing ahead of them in the BCS.

A win over Pitt in Pittsburgh will change that, especially if the Panthers spank Notre Dame tonight and handle West Virginia.

This has to be a nightmare for Houston Nutt. And you can bet that his fellow SEC coaches won't be bashful about using this on the recruiting trail.

I don't know about "waking up the echoes", but Knute Rockne must be rolling over in his grave.
