Bev did mighty fine developing Melaine! Mind you that Bev did not have the typical 4 years to develop Melaine since Melaine transferred in from JUCO. By her senior yr, she was hauling. She should have won the 400H senior year but some lame ruling caused her to DQ.

Bev is doing a great job with the 400 squad this past yr, but I'm just kind of corncerned with the 100/200 runners.

    Yes...and how did I forget Destinee? :?

From what I heard over the years and observed, Bev is very demanding.

It's very clear that if you are unwilling or unable to adopt to her program, she'll proceed with the few who will.

Just look at the careers of Marshevet and Sanya. She would put those ladies in a position to where she could use their talents to dominate meets. Sure there were other incredible athletes on the team but she often built her teams around BEASTS like these two.

I remember the year she won nationals with 7  athletes by competing in the 4x1 and 4x4 (1st in both), shot (Carter 6th), 400m (Chapple 8th), 100m (Hooker 1st), 200m (Kerr), 400h (Melaine 4th), 100h (Williams 6th) and long jump (Hooker 2nd), I believe.

All that with 7 (SEVEN) people.

No, but it does enable Texas to provide some mighty fine facilities, perks and extensive travel, all of which helps recruiting.

I heard Texas should recruit well next yr, but i wonder if Bev has anything up her sleeves for this coming season (maybe a few transfers or spring start?). She doesn't seem to have a sprinting squad that can be competitive for the 4x100 as of now...

I know it sounds like a pattern, but I'd like to say a few words in defense of Bev if I may.

Sanya, Bianca, Marshevet, Alex, Nichole, Michelle and Melaine.

    There.

With an athletic budget of over $100M, I don't think funds are an issue. Hell, the women's team planning on competing in the Bahamas for their Spring Break meet this upcoming season. They're not exactly hurting for cash.

LaKeidra and Alex P. were suppose to be the next group of sprinters... but Chalonda so far is listed as the only short sprint threat.

Yep, it helps to have have Yates Field oil revenue since 1926 (?) dedicated to the University of Texas.
