Please please please, before this triggers any un-complementary and impertinent comments on Caster's appearance... ...if you are going to do it, POST A PICTURE OF YOURSELF AS WELL, so we can all have a go.

what is the status re. her eligibility right now? is she allowed to compete, if she wanted to? would promoters want her in their meeting, what with the titillation and freakshow-style coverage it would generate?

What the heck are you talking about? There's some question about her chromosomal make-up. This is not a carnival side-show.

Athletics South Africa President Leonard Chuene has branded former national athletics coach Wilfred Daniels' statements that Caster Semenya was duped into taking gender tests as "wild allegations".

How many more twists and turns could the entire saga possibly take ? :?

I know that, but look at how the press report it, how non T&F fans view it. To them, it is exactly that.

Colleen Lowe Morna, executive director of the Gender Links advocacy organisation, said: “It is amazing how, in order to accept her, we have to turn her into our stereotypical image of what a woman should be. She’s made it clear she does not like dresses, high heels or glamour. Celebrating diversity means accepting women and men in all their shapes, sizes and forms, not moulding them into some typecast image of who we want them to be. Let Caster be Caster!”
Yep. A majority of this discussion is offensive at best, and downright embarrassing at worst.

There's a picture of this in the Semenya makeover story now linked on the front page here.

So now its stereotyping a woman to expect that there may be some indication of her gender made apparent by what she wears? Hmmp. :?

Anyway....it sounds like the Gender Links Advocacy Guru either doesn't know what she's talking about or is more likely pushing her own agenda.

"I'd like to dress up more often and wear dresses but I never get the chance," she said as she was photographed in several outfits."

"Now that I know I can look like this I'd like to dress like this more often"

                        Caster Semenya

I hope not!! i want to see that 1:53 go down... I just wish that Jelimo was in her 2008 form. Then we could possibly see a 1:50 in the women's 800. Oh well, my wishful thinking....

So now one's clothes defines one's gender?? Women in pants (a Sudanese woman was arrested and found guilt of 'gross misconduct' because she wore pants) are LESS feminine? That seems like a rather unenlightened attitude.
