  • Did You Know Anyone Working in the Pentagon or WTC Towers?

Did, or do you know someone who either worked in the World Trade Center, or The Pentagon eight years ago (even if they still do, or survived, or were not "at work" yet or that day)?

Someone from my high school was working in one of the Twin Towers but he was luckily on one of the lower floors of the second building to be hit. I also met someone on the ski slopes of Vermont back in 2002 who was taking a smoke break outside when the first plane struck the area he would have been working in. Not many people can say that smoking saved their life.

The best runner I ever coached (state HS champion and all-american 5k guy) was working in a civilian intelligence job for the Navy Dept. in the Pentagon. He took the morning off because he had to deliver his kids to an appointment. His working partner on the job was killed.

Since I'm from NYC and worked in the financial district, I am aware of 17 people I knew....some more than others....that were killed....3 of them firemen.

My uncle (a retired Marine) worked as a consultant in the Pentagon. He said he was knocked out of his chair by the impact (but was otherwise unharmed).

The second plane crashed directly into the offices of one of my clients. There were only a few people still in the office, but all 5 of them were killed. Someone from another of our clients was there at a breakfast meeting in the restaurant at the top of the first tower hit and was killed as well.

              Yes.

Was in South Lake Tahoe when the planes hit and had a hell of a time phoning the East Coast.

My best high school friend luckily got out of the WTC alive. He had been there during the 1993 bombing, so he was prepared.

I did know professionally two government workers with offices at WTC who did not make it out.

Sort of - Ace Bailey was on one of the Boston-LA planes that hit the twin towers. Ace was a scout for the LA Kings. He played in the NHL for several years with the Boston Bruins when I lived up in the Boston area, and I got to know him a bit, played a few rounds with him.

Ace was a hitman in the NHL, and a very tough guy, but also a very good guy. Somehow I know the terrorists killed him on the plane, because if he could have gotten his hands on them, they were goners. I hope he's skating on clean ice right now.

My former wife was supposed to have a meeting in the area where the plane crash'd into the Pentagon. Fortunately for her, the meeting had been postponed to a later time & date.

Unfortunately, she actually witness'd the plane crashing into the Pentagon. After recovering from the shock of what she witness'd, she did her job as a safety officer by insuring her co-workers safely exit'd their office building.

Another 9/11 personal tidbit, the COO of a company I used to work for actually was on the plane that crash'd into the Pentagon. A personable guy, his presence is definitely miss'd among all that knew and work'd for him; but most of all, his loss is felt by his widow and children.
