Didn't see it but the setting likely had something to do with it? Can you picture this happening at Wimbledon, the French?
If the audio is available I'd be interested in hearing it uncut but that probably won't happen.
Anytime you threaten an official you deserve to be nailed. As for the shrieks and grunts...no biggie for me. If that's what it takes for them (or Sharipova...big grunter as well) to win at that level, go for it. Seles was noisy, and Nadal has his moments.
What's up with Adam Nelson? Surely he and those other noisy weight guys can toss that little o'l ball without all of those antics beforehand, or afterwards??
This is absolutely ridiculous  Firstly it wasn't a foot-fault and the line judge accused Serena of saying "I'm gonna kill you." I don't believe this for a minute. Yes, she got frustrated but name me a player who wouldn't get frustrated after such a pivotal moment? Plus it tarnishes Kim's victory.
In the fourth round, Vera Zvonareva called Lynn Welch 'a whore' during her match against Pennetta and nothing happens. Seems like Serena always gets the crappy end of the deal at the USO - remember that match against Capriati in 2004?
Hopefully the sisters will win the doubles as consolation.
Tennis should have done something already about her (and her sister's) screaming while hitting strokes.
If they started sanctioning grunters, there wouldn't be any players left on the women's circuit!!!!!
Exactly! By the way, wasn't Monica Seles the first one to bring grunting to the court?
Yes, she was the first high profile grunter. I've got no problem with grunting - I just can't stand the Sharapova, Azarenka, Larcher de Brito shrieks and screams like this.

I heard the uncut version last night and the things that came out of her mouth made John McEnroe blush. Afterwards, in a fit of self-serving hypocrisy, she said that McEnroe had always been her biggest idol. McEnroe later said she obviously learned the wrong lesson from him. She started out by getting a few feet from the referee and saying, "I swear to god I’m f-----g going to take this ball and shove it down your f-----g mouth." After that it only got worse. Here's the bleeped version.
Serena has shown her lack of class just one time too many for me, and I'm sorry to say that I can no longer call myself one of her fans. The good news is that I'll no longer have trouble deciding who to pull for when the Williams sisters play each other.
Serena is one of the few things right about the USTA
Yes, she lost her temper and said some regrettable things and for that she was penalized match point in the semis of a major!! My goodness isn't that enough?
As bad as this was what she's been through from the other direction pales in comparison.

Yes, especially since she gave such a sincere apology to the lines-person . . . oh wait . . .she didn't? . . . never mind . . .

TD, I don't know what you're talking about. Did the line judge curse her out before the match? That's the only thing that might mitigate her behavior in my mind. To be fair, people who know tennis say that the judge was out of line. But what Serena should have done is filed a complaint against the judge, if tennis allows such a thing. Or she could have taken the judge to task in her post-match press conference. It's not like that point had a big effect on the outcome of the match. She was getting her butt whipped anyway, so the call had no effect on the match. Why get so upset over a meaningless point?
