  • you are of course correct but i knew there were no WMD so he sure as hell did

also what is a WMD it's just a phrase that was made up because they knew that claiming nuclear weapons was too far fetch so they gave the name WMD to hint at nuclear without actually saying it

could anyone say specifically what a WMD is ??
    i deserve extra credit

I completely disagree. If he meant no new taxes when he said it, it was not a lie and never could be a lie. He didnt lie therefore, he was wrong.
I guess that technically you have a point, but morally, I don't see much difference between a liar and a person who reneges on a promise. But here's an example of Bush 43 saying something that he knew was false at the time he said it:
But for those who say we haven't found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they're wrong, we found them. (5/30/03)
George Will even wrote a column on this lie.

If he lied, he lied. I got no problem with that. To me a lie is a million times worse then finding out the guy was wrong.

Both Clintons and the vast majority of the Congress thought there was WMD's and voted to go into Iraq. Did they all lie?

We're talking about three different things. Before the war, they were mistaken when they sad Iraq had WMD. The war only started after Bush reneged on his promise to let Hans Blix and his inspection team finish their search. But by May 30, 2003, the time when Bush or Cheney could creditably be mistaken had passed. At that point they were lying.

By the way, here's Will's column:

                      • All this talk about "forcing" anyone to apologize is silly. If one is "forced" to apologize, it is meaningless. An apology only means something if the person offering it means it. Otherwise it is just more PR BS. Miss Sweetness has showed her true colors with her initial non-apologetic comments.

Maybe they weren't her true colors, but more like how she felt at the time.

After she had time to think about it, then she apologized.

Happens with most people from time to time I would think.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think McEnroe and some of the other jerks who have been mentioned were forced to apologize. If someone can show me where Irina Spirlea was forced to crawl on her knees with hat in hand, and/or suspended after she was defaulted for cursing out an official in 1996, then I'll be open to the same type of treatment for Serena.
                            It's not 1996

So we should just excuse their behavior and forget about it, and and throw Serena to the wolves? How nice; forgive and forget, even for repeat major offenders; but not Serena, a FIRST-TIME offender! That is a copout to end all copouts, bar none! I did mention Rodionova's incident, did I not? That was a physical act, unlike in Serena's case, because she could have hit someone in the eye.

If there was ever an overreaction to an overreaction, and a double-standard at work, it is surely this case. Rodionova went far enough in her incident that she was ejected from her match, but she was never suspended (compare to Mac kicking a camera over some 2½ decades ago, without even getting tossed). Serena, on the other hand, was penalized a point (which ended the match), yet the pitchforks and torches come out in their bloodlust to burn her at the stake. Again, I wonder why...
