You could be right. What 'we' (and I don't mean you or me - I mean entities like international sports bodies) need to learn from this is that when we throw someone under the bus, as we did here, lives can be ruined. Both the SA federation and the IAAF handled this poorly. If, as a consequence of this situation, it's handled much more delicately in the future, 'something' would have been learned, and that's a silver lining here. I think this whole thing would have blown up what ever the IAAF did. Don't you think the media would have run with this story regardless? The only way to prevent the situation was that she did not enter and compete in Berlin. Apparently this was never an option for the SAF.Comment

no, that was soundarajan. she did not commit suicide. it was reported that she thought about it or tried to, but not confirmed. she's supposedly currently coaching youth in india.Comment

Story currently linked on front page here (Headline: SA Federation Chief To Launch Own Semenya Probe ) suggests that Semenya is not on a suicide watch.
Semenya's elder sister Winnie told The Star yesterday that her sister remained calm.
