  • The Natural or Field of Dreams

Since Field of Dreams is on AMC right now, the Caddyshack/Animal House got me thinking on this. I can never decide on these two - depends on which one I've seen most recently. I think I give it to The Natural in a photo.

mmmmm....they are so different, dreams was very sentimental and spirtual and the natural was magical with the lights exploding at the end. Love em both and would have to see them back to back to decide.

Easily the funniest sports (or at least baseball) movie ever; I could watch this forever; never quite got the appeal of Bull Durham either.

My problem is that both The Natural and Field of Dreams are fantasy parables. Bull Durham is 'real'. All three have great messages, but BD's message is more viscerally related. The protagonists in the other two seem 2-dimensional compared to Crash Davis. And yes, Susan S. is every man's (as opposed to boy's) fantasy.

I watch Major League at the beginning of every baseball season. Gets my vote for funniest sports movie.

Having seen her daughter stripping on the latest episode of Californication, I beg to differ.

I love The Natural, but Field of Dreams gives me goosebumps. It has more great lines.

Growing up in North Easternish Ohio, Major League was a watch over and over staple of my teens and early 20's. Yes, the funniest sports movie ever.

                        Long Gone
is also a great if little known baseball movie.

For cheesy goodness I also enjoy The Slugger's Wife.

                        Susan Sarandon needs to eat.

Bull Durham is my favourite BB movie, although the others mentioned are good also. Last night, I was just getting ready to hit the sack, when I noticed Bull Durham was about to start on the tube. So I switched venues, curled up the couch, and drifted off to sleep with Susan's voice in my ear. It was very nice...
