  • Honduras Qs for WC

Click on the videos on the right to see the bedlam in Honduras after they qualified for the WC. You've got to love it!

The article is titled "Bornstein, Honduras loves you." US player Jon Bornstein scored the goal that tied the match with Costa Rica, which allowed Honduras to qualify.

The scene at at Toncontin Airport in Tegucigalpa was out of control, with fans trampling over the luggage bays to get a glimpse of their heroes.

Maybe soccer is indeed the most democratic of sports, else the "Catrachos," aka the "Bicolor," wouldn't be in the greatest of all sporting events. Bicolor (two colors) -- like they are the only country whose flag has two colors?

Bonus: Toncontin is the most dangerous airport in the world when it comes to landing a jet. The Catrachos are lucky to have made it home alive! Lots of videos on YT showing spectacular landings at Toncontin:

"The airport's single runway is 2025 m (6132 feet) in length and is at an altitude of 1090 m (3,297 feet). Boeing 757s are the largest aircraft that can land at Toncontin, as it is one of the shortest international runways in the world"

Looks like the planes should deploy parachutes, a la the space shuttle, to slow down.
