  • EASY Baseball Trivia

From at least the 1920's ( and I think even a lot earlier) there were no franchise moves until 1953, and even since that date, there are some franchises that are still unchanged, here in 2010. Can you name these franchises that have stood the test of time for over 90 years ? As a silly hint, there were only 16 teams in the Major Leagues until 1961 so the correct answer obviously is 16 or or less. OK, name 'em.

Braves didn't move to Atlanta until the 1966 season. The Senators move and became the Minnesota Twins starting in the 1961 season. They were replaced by one of the two expansion teams that year, the Washington Senators, who later moved and became the Texas Rangers.

You're right about Senators/Twins Senators/Rangers. Braves move from Boston to Milwaukee was within the 1960 time limit.

(Correction to say: ) Bambam correctly named the 10 teams that were unsullied. Must be because of his excellent educational background.
Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee in 1953. That started it. I believe the Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles in 1954. Giants and Dodgers went west in 1958.

One has been mentioned, but for the record, what were the first 2 expansion teams in the AL ( 1961) and what were the first 2 in the NL ( 1962) ? Be careful with one of your answers.

NL - New York Mets, Houston Colt 45s
AL - LA Angels, Washington Senators (see DJ's response earlier - original moved to Minnesota)

Correct ! And good work with the Colt 45's part. I think that lasted one year, maybe two. Name change to Astros probably made LBJ happy.

Wasn't sure so just checked baseball-reference for this, Colt 45s for 3 years (1962-64)
