  • Today is my last day in the 60s.....

And a redhead kidnapped me out of my warm bed and took me over state lines to Las Vegas for immoral purposes, but the joke is on her. Tomorrow, she will wake up next to an opinionated, cranky, unbending old geezer of 70 with creaky joints and a hankering for gin. Right now, she is accosting me in Barstow. Ever been accosted in Barstow? Not a pretty sight.

Sorry, but now we're going to have to put you out in the back 40 with lonewolf. Good luck with THAT!

I did once stand on a corner in Winslow, Arizona - such a fine site to see.

Ah, to be as young as Rye Catcher again.

I too stood on that street corner in Winslow, AZ and watched bus loads of Eagles pilgrims alight to tour hallowed ground. Appropriately, they keep a red flatbed Ford parked on the street. ... no girl..
True Confession: Until I saw that truck, all these years I thought he was singing "flat head" Ford, as in flathead V-8.
Small World Catergory: The proprioteress of the store on the NE corner of that intersection is from Oklahoma and we had mutual friends/acquaintences.

What took you to BTR? If it was a track (NCAA?) meet, you shouldn't have been busted too flat.

We're all the same age, Rye, when you consider how short our lives on this earth are. Happy Birthday, friend!

I remember Barstow well. When I lived in Salt Lake City and travelled to Calayeforniaye we would make Barstow the stop over place. We used to say: " If they gave the World an enema it would be administered in Barstow." That was until I went through Gila bend Arizona.

I'll be leaving the 60's in April and it sure as hell won't be Barstow. Key West maybe! 8-)

The secret to navigating your seventies is to not think of it as your eighth decade.
