  • Stake out your seats for the 2013 America's Cup

Where do you think the best place to watch the races will be? I pick the top of Angel Island.

I'm amazed at how close the course runs to land. And even going under the GG bridge. The need to predict the wind is going to be key.

And you're right about Angel Island.

Note that the map with that link doesn't indicate Angel as a spectator zone. Interesting. My choice would be standing in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge (wonder how they're gonna handle crowd control on that one!).

If you've ever sailed the Bay you'll know that the combination of wind & current can be hellacious there, and for the size of boats they'll be running, tacking around the bridge pillars is gonna be one fun exercise!

I've been dreaming of this since I had a brief career racing on the Bay in the mid-'80s!

(the closeness of the course to land is nothing new for here, though; they have the "Big Boat Series" every year and they run almost with a stone's throw of the shoreline)
