    Re: Peanut butter.

I put crunchy peanut butter on my porridge with honey. Its like eating a sandwich which has already been chewed in the mouth.

Those of us of a certain age recall rejoicing when they finally got the chemistry right and the "real" PB quit doing that! What a pain in the ass to have to stir it every time, and invariably, by the time you got to the bottom of the can you had 10-20% wastage as the oil-deprived part settled into a substance harder than rebarred concrete.

The trade-off of course being that "unseparated" peanut butter uses hydrogenated vegetable oil, whereas natural peanut butter does not and is generally considered very heart-healthy.

Ed: Hey, what kind of peanut butter is that? Is that the crunchy kind?

Ralph: Yes, it's the crunchy kind, and I can prove it to you. When this jar hits your head, you'll hear a crunch!

Well, there's a food going 'round and it's a sticky, sticky goo
    - Peanut, peanut butter
It tastes to good, but it's so hard to chew
    - Peanut, peanut butter
People everywhere, they think it's the most
    - Peanut, peanut butter
Early in the morning they put it on their toast
    - Peanut, peanut butter

Chorus: I like peanut butter, creamy peanut butter, chunky peanut butter, too!

My old dog started barking in the middle of the night
    - Peanut, peanut butter
He woke up all my neighbors, I almost got in a fight
    - Peanut, peanut butter
So I gave him peanut butter just to quiet him down
    - Peanut, peanut butter
He chewed himself to sleep and he never made a sound
    - Peanut, peanut butter
    Chorus

I went to a dinner party and what did they eat?
    - Peanut, peanut butter
I took a big bite and it stuck to my teeth
    - Peanut, peanut butter
People going 'round look like they got the mumps
    - Peanut, peanut butter
They were eating peanut butter in great, big hunks
    - Peanut, peanut butter
    Chorus

    Cultural commentary at its best

    name the group

Don't really expect anybody to know that - be a surprise to me. My only inside lane on that is that I googled - the universal reference

I used to take the chunky I got at the co-op and add a little bit of honey and some powdered milk- the milk gives it a more complete protein according to Frances Moore Lappe in Diet for a Small Planet.

Still dig Skippy super-chunk though the Saltines I put it on are not as good. Most all crackers have changed, maybe baked in a new kind of oil or something?
Sometime it's subtle, in others it's very noticeable. Bring back Bacon thins!

    started a topic Peanut butter.

    Peanut butter.

Peanut butter... everyone loves it, right?

As for me, I've gotten tired of the commercial brands...too much salt, and/or sugar etc. I now make my own from spanish peanuts which I buy raw, dry roast (320 degrees for 20 minutes), use my old vita-mix to make the butter, then mix it with one third honey. Very satisfying, delicious and even nutitious.
Working...
