When I clerked at the 1993 WUG in Buffalo, we had an excellent interpreter helping us at the warmup track. She knew about a half dozen languages. She told us she had a Swiss instructor for German. When she spoke to the German Coaches, they looked at her funny, but the Swiss Coaches wanted to slap her on the back.

I think Oriental languages would be most difficult for westerners. I cannot understand anything that sounds like a word.
Also unintelligible, Arabic and Farsi...
Of course I don't even understand English as spoken by the Brits so I may not be a credible judge.
