I am surprised SF is #1. It is a beautiful city, and one of my favorite places to visit, but in the last several years it has a growing homeless population and there are areas of the city that are very unsanitary.

Rising seas could affect three times more people by 2050 than previously thought, according to new research, threatening to all but erase some of the world’s great coastal cities.
The authors of a paper published Tuesday developed a more accurate way of calculating land elevation based on satellite readings, a standard way of estimating the effects of sea level rise over large areas, and found that the previous numbers were far too optimistic. The new research shows that some 150 million people are now living on land that will be below the high-tide line by midcentury. Southern Vietnam could all but disappear.

I had a "grandson needing bail" phone call last month. Young male voice greeted me as "Grandpa" (which was correct for that branch of family)said he was talking on phone while driving to work, hit a woman who was in IC in hospital, he was in jail. I knew instantly it was a scam so I played him a while as he tried to figure out/decide which of my grandsons he was. First, he was Tom, who lives in Austin, does computer consulting from his apartment, does not drive to work and happened to be in Korea at the moment. Then he was Eric, who lives in NYC, commutes to Wall Street by subway and does not own a car. Finally, in exasperation, he called me a stupid multiple expletives and hung up.
