In the world of hybrids a distinction is made between a zebra/horse mating over a zebra/pony mating. So I assume there is a significant difference, more than just size. A Zorse vs Zony

Along the same lines, a mule is the product of male donkey breeding with a female horse. But what do we call the progeny of a Male horse with a female donkey?

Not to conjure up images of Alien, but if a very large male dog somehow manages to mate with a very small dog, is there the risk of generating an offspring which would be errrr, unmanageable in the womb?

(I ask this not as a script for a horror movie, but because I'm fascinated by the biology of it)
