I was randomly reading something about Disney movies and was compelled to look at a list of their movies. What I found was 10 Instant Classics, followed by a 25-year drought, followed by 10 more Instant Classics. All were at least partly animated films. And they have only had two all-live-action (and one relied heavily on special effects) movies that I'd consider even close.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1937
    Fantasia 1940
    Bambi 1942
    Song of the South 1946
    Cinderella 1950
    Alice in Wonderland 1951
    Peter Pan 1953
    Lady and the Tramp 1955
    Sleeping Beauty 1959
    Mary Poppins 1964

    Little Mermaid 1989
    Beauty and the Beast 1991
    Aladdin 1992
    Lion King 1994
    Jungle Book 1994
    Toy Story 1995
    Monsters, Inc 2001
    Finding Nemo 2003
    Wall-E 2008

    Pirates of the Caribbean 2003
    Secretariat 2010

    That's some record.

I miss old school animation. I don't like the Pixar version. I don't think it can duplicate the subtleties seen in hand drawn animation. JMO.

Well, all I can say is that I've received a huge education in Disney films since my daughter was born. So far, her collection consists of (from your list):

      Bambi 1942
      Cinderella 1950
      Alice in Wonderland 1951
      Peter Pan 1953
      Lady and the Tramp 1955
      Little Mermaid 1989
      Beauty and the Beast 1991
      Lion King 1994
      Finding Nemo 2003

      Not on your list:

Tangled (actually quite well done too)
      The Aristocats
Cars (although she doesn't like this one)

We just watched half of Monsters Inc. this evening -- she thought it was great, but then again she loves going around roaring and scaring people....

I loved this one, but it was 67. The first movie I ever went to was Disney's Robin Hood (1973).
