Birmingham was not a Diamond League 800, so the author is presumably referring to her 4th DL win.

In a "Run Blog Run" article linked to on the front page, David Hunter writes: "And when the essentially-unchallenged Dibaba hit the line to stop the clock at 3:50.07 - a conversion equivalent to sub-4:07 mile - the new WR mark dared many to speculate on how many years away might we be from the first sub-4:00 mile by a woman."

Huh? By the 8% rule, it's equivalent to 4:08.5 or so. He also is not aware that Ajee Wilson is out of the worlds, although perhaps this stuff was written before that was known.

I can't find the article, but does he give any credence to the discussion about when a woman will break 4:00? Because it likely will be 50 years if not never. A man will run a sub-2:00 marathon before a woman will run a sub-4:00 mile.

Couple examples.

"Aug. 22 at 12:40 a.m.- Men's 100-meter preliminary round: First look at what shape Usain Bolt is in for the men's 100-meter dash."

Nope. Usain will not run in the preliminary round.

"8:35 a.m. - Women's 10,000-meter final: Americans Emily Infeld, Molly Huddle and Shalane Flanagan, boosted by the news of a potential medal upgrade, have a very good shot of medaling in a field that does not include world record holder Tirunesh Dibaba or any major threats from the Kenyan and Ethiopian contingents."

Huh, no major threats from Kenya or Ethiopia?

The writer seems to thing Hamburg is considering bidding for the 2022 Olympics. Of course, it's 2024.
