Clearly we are all clueless here because the morning news on ABC just announced that Sam Kendricks was (before his Covid issue) "America's best hope for a gold medal in track and field".

I woud like to bring to your attention an example from Australia, in an article talking about 10 to watch, across all sports, at the Tokyo OG. It mentions Cheptegei in the 5000 and 10000 but then provides this gem proving that the OG must have started in 2008:
He finished sixth in the 10,000 and eighth in the 5000 at the last Olympics in Rio but took gold in both at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In Tokyo, he is hoping to do the same, and in doing so join an exclusive club. Only two men have won both races at the same Olympics – Bekele in 2008 and Mo Farah in 2012 and 2016.

Her (Richardson) time of 10.86 seconds instantly made her a gold medal favorite at the Tokyo Olympics that begin this month, mostly because it was not even the fastest she has run this year.
Richardson has a magnetic combination of speed and charisma. But her use of marijuana before an event has jeopardized her chance to compete in Tokyo.
I guess Jamaica and the U.K. don't exist?

Clearly something lost in translation here: "Greece’s Tentoglou Breaks World Long Jump Record for 2021." But it is all Greek to me...
