Headlines are typically written by different people than the writers of the articles because they have to fit the space available. The piece did identify where the All Blacks are from so it was a mistake by someone that is not necessarily even a sports writer.

I'd venture that most Americans think that NZ is part of Australia, an island state as Hawai'i is to us.
