    Wow, he (and his Your Show of Shows) really was the role model for a whole generation of comedians after him.

      He had some problems but turned into a fitness fanatic in his later years and that may have been why he had a long life? Once described by Mel Brooks as having Herculian strength.

        I don't know who saw him as a role model but now that you mention it, I have to wonder whether the brilliant zaniness of Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams resulted from some of what Caesar did, consciously or unconsciously.

          I came too late to North America to really enjoy Caesar. So he really knocked out a horse! My goodness, I had no idea about the "Blazing Saddles" connection. At least I got to enjoy Winters and Mel Brooks.
