          I'm not sure I knew that Williams was inspired by Winters, but I always thought that their humor was very similar. There was stuff that one or the other of them did that I thought either of them could have done, but that I couldn't imagine anyone else doing.

            After Winters died in 2013 Williams wrote an appreciation in the NY Times, describing how seeing Winters on “The Tonight Show” with Jack Paar got him hooked on comedy.
