Where are the college football fans here?

I'll take Oregon, Stanford, Notre Dame. Anyone disagree?

      OK, I'll play

USC - Stanford: pick'em. SC is super-pissed that Stanford has been on the rise and will really want this. Stanford's advantage is a rejuvenated Ty Montgomery, and a QB who is 10-1 against ranked opponents. It's the steady-as-a-rock coaching of Shaw against the offensive brilliance of Sarkisian. NCAA sanctions have timed out on SC, so thy're chomping at the bit.

Oregon - MichSt. Oregon by 10. MSU is under-rated and will definitely slow down best-QB-in-college, Mariota. This will be like the FSU-OkSt game last week, methinks.

Mich - ND. I hate ND, so this is an easy Mich pick! :-)

Hmm... not a good start for Dixon's or Pego's picks. But from now on one or the other has to have at least one winner :-P

              A bad call from 3-0.

One thing I definitely learned from the first two weeks. Big Ten is the weakest in years :-(.

They lack team speed and it's real obvious.

The problem I have with this statement is that you have been using it every year for years, even when quite a few Big10 teams were quite competitive. You just made a credible case on the NFL thread for football success going beyond pure athleticism. You cannot have it both ways.

Last year, there were several quite good Big10 teams. I don't see it now. Hey, I wish you prove me wrong ;-).

There is more to winning football games than just speed.

I've been watching NCAA football for a long time, I know what I'm looking at, yes the Big10 is slow. They don't get the speed we see in the SEC, Pac12, Big12. Hell, look at their track teams. Who was the last great Big10 sprinter?

We don't see that same level of size with speed in the Big10, or I don't and I've been watching Big10 football since back when "Squirmin' " Sherman Lewis was starring for Michigan, now he could motor.

My OK State Cowboys actually dropped in the polls. Apparently, the pollsters agree with me that OKState looked better losing to FlState than beating MOState.

I could go on and on.....

The Big10 doesn't recruit the speed we see from the other top conferences.

Hell, this would be the SEC footballer 100m

                                1.Xavier Carter LSU
                                2.Leonard Scott Tenn
                                3.Trindon Holliday LSU
                                4.Jeff Demps Florida
                                5.Sam Graddy Tennessee
                                6.John Capel Florida
                                7.Willie Gault Tennessee
                                8.Herschel Walker Georgia

A whole other level of speed there than we see in the Big10.

                                How about Florida A&M?

                                Bob Hayes
                                Bob Paremore 9.4
                                Eugene White 9.4
                                Clarence Childs 9.5

There is a reason all the great Big10 sprinters were ...once upon a time.
