When David Gest died recently, it was mentioned that he had been organising a tour of the UK and that Billy would be one of the musical guests, which inspired a BP listening binge. It took me back to '73 when the Philly sound was big and amongst my suprise Christmas presents was the 'War of The Gods' album along with the O'Jays 'Ship Ahoy'. Come to think of it, my (quite old) parents were pretty cool!
Billy was somewhat between categories, which accounted for his relative lack of commercial success compared to his peers, but made for a more interesting artist. RIP.Comment
