  • Coast Guard rescues man running in a bubble in the ocean... again

I didn't know if this should go in current events....

An ultra-marathoner trying to "run" from Florida to Bermuda in an inflatable bubble ended his second attempt.

So why do we taxpayers have to pay to save this idiot? Just let him kill himself by his own idiocy.

Two reasons: It's inhumane and we don't want to put the Coast Guard in the position of deciding who lives and who dies.

I thought of that also, but he was running if you want to call it that...maybe next time...I'm sure our hero has more plans along these lines....

Simple solution - tell him if he tries again, they will bill him directly for the rescue.

In San Antonio, it was such a big issue with people driving around barricades during flood events, that now anyone that drives around a barricade and has to be rescued gets the bill which can run over $5,000. Can't imagine the cost of a Coast Guard rescue...$100,000+?...but it'd only take one bill to stop him.

"His strategy was to catch fish, eat protein bars and sleep on a hammock inside the pod. Baluchi had planned to travel 1,033 miles from Pompano Beach to Bermuda, then to Puerto Rico, Haiti and Cuba before heading back to Florida."
