  • And you think track has problems. Horrible stuff. I did age group swimming from 8-14.

But her father was pretty awful....

Shortly after my father married my stepmother, told me: “Sarah, you’re going to have your life, your father and I are going to have ours.”

When my father found out my grades were low because I’d been skipping more and more classes, he demanded I quit the team. That was never going to happen. Swimming was something I loved to do and I was going to the Olympics. It was the only positive thing in my life at that point. One day my father came to the pool and pulled me out of practice, telling me that if I went back the next day to not come home again. I went the next morning and when I got back to my house, all my stuff was on the front lawn.

When little old irrelevant Aunt Betty does the same with mister self entitled pomposity himself, Andy "I have the ability to remember the time and date I bought a pizza 10 years ago" von Battenburg, then maybe her concerns will mean something.

I watched that, and it's clear that USAG has a long way to go to rebuilt trust. Hopefully, not that whistleblowing is part of the new normal, it will be much more difficult to abuse these athletes. It happens throughout sports but was esp. egregious here. The Joe Paterna scandal also.
