  • Yanni or Laurel? Laurel or Yanni?

    Which one do you hear?

Listen to it with different types and sizes of speakers... cellphone speaker, laptop speaker, headphones, computer desktop speakers, etc. and the word you hear may change.

Changing your speakers' volume may also make a difference. Some say they hear Yanni at very low volume, but Laurel at mid-high volume.

I'm hearing Laurel. Nothing else, regardless of volume. Tried it with headsphones connected to my laptop and without. I haven't (and don't intend to) try it on my cell phone.

I have some hearing loss in my right ear at high frequencies. I hear yanny in the right and laurel in my left.

That's so white-gold/blue-black dressy! I hear no L sound at beginning or end.

There is a youtube video (that I don't want to track down) showing what is happening. Someone put both Yanny and Laurel together into a single sound file. The high frequencies are one of them (Yanny, say), while the low frequencies are the other (Laurel, say). Depending on how your speakers work, they will tend to favor one end of the frequency spectrum, which will dictate which you hear.

So maybe my 'Yarry' is what it SHOULD be!

Completely "Yanni" ... nothing remotely resembling "Laurel".

My wife listens to Yanni. He makes my brain turn to mush.

I thought the musician's name was pronounced differently.
