Figure skating is the most obvious winter example.

Also ski jumping. Is the scoring in Olympic boxing still somewhat subjective?

Put me down for "no Olympic break dancing".

That would be interesting. An Olympics for objectively measured sports, and one for subjectively judged ones.

I guess very few people pay attention to ALL sports during the Olympics anyway. Is it really such a big deal if they include a few sports you consider stupid/ boring, as log as there are enough of the ones you do like?
                Było smaszno, a jaszmije smukwijne...

The patient is already suffering from bloating. A gallon of ice cream is not a good idea.

I could never understand the inclusion of "style points" in ski jumping. Presumably if your style is off you won't soar as far anyway.

all of the "style" points are awarded if you bend your knees and don't spread your legs on the landing...

You're supposed to bend your knees on landing. The ideal landing is coming down in a Telemark position, left leg in front and bent, right bent and behind you. But I agree that I could never figure out why they bother with style points in ski jumping.

On the other "sport" its name in competition is now called "breaking"

Not the case in some parts of the world.

if you won't buy breakdancing, how about obstacle courses? (see story now linked on home page)

                                We'll see...

But just because it has moved closer to the Olympics doesn’t mean obstacle racing is a shoe-in. As an observing member, World Obstacle joins more than a few other off-the-cuff sports federations, including:
                                • World Dodgeball Association
                                • Federation for International FootGolf
                                • International Jump Rope Union
                                • International Union of Kettlebell Lifting
                                • Federation Internationale de Sand et Land Yachting
                                • International Padel Federation
                                • International Federation of Match Poker
                                • International Pole Sports Federation
