The last time the UK voted in December was 1923, when the Tories lost their majority and a Labour minority with Liberal backing formed an unsteady government that collapsed in less than a year.

          In the FT...

But many MPs believe it is risky to hold a poll so close to Christmas. David Gauke, former justice secretary recently sacked by the Tory party, warned: “When someone opens the front door to a stranger in December, they expect to be sung a carol, not asked how they are going to vote. A government that is seen as provoking a season of ill-will is unlikely to be viewed affectionately by the general public.”

While this is true, who will they blame for the December election? I think it is perhaps likely that they will blame Corbyn

Amongst other things, the exit poll suggests that England and Scotland have headed in opposite political directions.

Given how both Johnson and Corbyn are hated by so many people, it's remarkable that Lib Dem could not capitalize on that at all.
