  • FHM: Moral Question for Adams & Acuff?

Logan Tom, Amanda Beard, Haley Cope, Jenny Adams and Amy Acuff are featured in FHM - apparently a men:s magazine in the USA (?). According to Swedish manager, Daniel Wessfelt, the five women can have received up to US 100 000 for their appearances in the magazine.

The question? Were they paid to be spokeswomen for the Olympics? I don:t think so. They were paid to show their skin and raise some eyebrows. Is this a form of athletics prostitution?

Kajsa Bergqvist refused a similar offer/request from Playboy due to conflicts with her ideals.

Acuff and other Americans posed for the (in)famous calendar issue some years back, and I read somewhere here on the boards that Acuff was at this (posing with skimpy clothes for money) again.

Your thoughts on what goes on with athletes off the track when their actions are a direct reflection on the sport?

Isn't Amy Acuff also going to be in September Playboy, presumably the Full Monty ?

I may be in the minority here (I doubt it) but I have no problem with beautiful women show skin in magazines, even beautiful T&F women. Never have, never will.

go to vaultgirls.com and after looking through the pictures read their mission statement. it might help find some answers to that question.

as long as it is not porno, and it's not my daughter or wife, it's strictly a personal decision.

If PlayGIRL offered any of us guys mucho dinero to go au naturel, how many would say no ?

hjsteve -- those women are good-looking, no question about it. if it was your wife - and she was an Olympic hopeful, why would you not want others to see her? Would they form an opinion about her that may not necessarily be true?

my comment about "as long as not my daughter or wife" was pretty much tongue in cheek. It's personal decision for them just like anyone else !

Understood. I, personally, agree with Bergqvist on the ethical/moral side of the issue. A member of our national women:s fotboll team, Josefin Öqvist (she is the one pictured underneath Acuff:s photo - in a yellow bikini and holding a fotboll), turned up in a men:s magazine, Slitz, this year - and faced a lot of heat from footboll fans, athletes and the general public. Too conservative here in Scandinavia? Maybe.

I don't have the slightest problem with it. I got a little tired of Acuff's antics a few years ago but that was because I'd prefer her to get attention by jumping higher, not by wearing a fur-trimmed outfit.

No problem here, either. If these women wish to make extra bucks modeling, that is their own business and none of ours.

I just did a search and found out that the FHM mag goes on sale August 10th.

Try http://www.slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33718 for some of the (non-nude) pictures and the magazine cover.

David Monti passed some info about Tamsyn Lewis around this morning. She is supposed to have taken flack for it:

Moral my behind. Get off the high moral ground (which is really an anthill). That's their business. Okay????

To be honest, the only thing I find reprehensively offensive is a thread of this sort.

Morality in the raw is the way you treat other human beings. All else cultural bigotry.
